How long does it take to set up Network Magic?
Network Magic™ installation is easy. It takes about 2 minutes to install the Network Magic™ software on each computer in your home. Once installed, the software automatically analyzes the network and quickly builds a map showing all of the computers and devices sharing your Internet connection.

Is there a separate download for the Network Magic™ Free Version?
No, there is not a separate download for each version of Network Magic™ (Premium Version and the Free Version) -- there is only one download. When you first install, you automatically start the 30-day free trial of the Premium Version features. At any time during the trial you can choose to purchase and when you do (and receive your product key), you simply activate your copy of Network Magic™ and you'll have permanent access to all the Premium features. If your trial expires and you decide you don't want to purchase the Premium version, the Premium features will go away, but you will be left with the Free Version which is yours to keep using.

Why was Network Magic™ developed?
While the benefits of home networking are great, it can be very frustrating and time consuming for the average computer user. Making disparate PCs, routers, printers and devices all talk to each other and work smoothly can take hours of configuration (and reconfiguration). Network Magic™ eliminates common frustrations and saves time by simplifying and automating set up, management and repair of home networks, and makes printer and file sharing effortless. We also make it so users can easily monitor what is going on with the computers in their homes. We want consumers to spend more time enjoying their home networks and less time managing them.

Do consumers have to buy a separate copy of Network Magic™ for each computer in their home network?
No. Network Magic™ Premium is offered as a 3 PC, 5 PC or 8 PC license. For example, if you purchase the 3 PC Network Magic™ Premium license, you can use it on up to 3 PCs in your home network. Contact Technical Support if you have more than 8 PCs for installation guidance.

Network Magic™ does a lot more for consumers' home networks than if they used Windows XP or Windows Vista alone. Our Network Map lets users view and manage their entire home network from one screen. Instead of having to hassle with complicated wizards and control panels, Network Magic's sharing technology quickly sets up folder sharing for consumers, and automatically sets up printer sharing - even if the PCs on their network have older operating systems. If an Internet connection problem occurs, Network Magic™ helps consumers quickly pinpoint, troubleshoot and repair the problem. With PC Shield™, consumers' shared files are automatically protected when they use public wireless networks, preventing strangers from accessing files. And the Remote Access service lets consumers access files on their home network from anywhere using a standard Internet browser.

After that you can print from any of your computers – it's that easy! How Does Network Magic™ Protect My Network From Wireless Intruders?
More and more intruders are tapping into unprotected wireless Internet connections. Network Magic™ helps you keep your wireless network and files safe by detecting and alerting you when an intruder is on your home network and making it easy for you to let them on if they are a friend or family member or kick them off of your connection and out of your network.
Network Magic™ also protects your shared files when you are using a different wireless network like a coffee shop HotSpot. PC Shield automatically locks down your shared files and turns on the Windows Firewall to keep intruders out of your files.

Does Network Magic™ recognize more than just the PCs and printers that are on a home network?
Network Magic's Instant Device Discovery (IDDI) recognizes and enables management of hundreds of devices with IP addresses, including VoIP adaptors, network storage devices and scanners making setup fast and easy for consumers while eliminating the need to worry about hardware compatibility issues.

Depending on which Network Magic™ license you've purchased, you can run Network Magic™ on up to 3, 5, or 8 PCs in a single household.

What if I have more than 8 PCs? Can I get a Network Magic™ license that allows me to install Network Magic™ on all of them?
In the testing we've done with Network Magic, some performance degradation has been seen in network configurations containing more than 8 PCs. We're working on improving the performance of Network Magic™ on these networks for upcoming versions.
Although running Network Magic™ on more than 8 PCs on one network isn't a supported configuration, in order to do this at all, you need to purchase the 8 PC Network Magic™ license through our regular purchase process. Once you've done that and have decided to run in this unsupported configuration, you can go ahead and use the current version of Network Magic™ on your additional PCs without needing to purchase any additional licenses.
